Zimbabwe Republic Police in the Midlands Province has called upon farmers to intensify their security to protect their livestock against thieves following the slaughter of four cattle worth US$4600 at a farm in Somabula on Monday morning.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a stock theft case where four beasts were deboned by unknown culprits in the Somabula farming area.
“We urge farmers to intensify their security measures to safeguard their stock,” said ZRP spokesperson in Midlands Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
According to the police report, in the early hours of Monday at around 0500hrs, the complainant Nhlanhla Ndlovu of Somabula farming area was shocked to wake up to the sight of his four beasts slaughtered and deboned in the kraal.
Promptly, a police report was made.
Unfortunately, the perpetrators are not yet known. Therefore, the police appeal to the public to assist them with information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits.
“We are appealing to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the culprits to approach any nearest police station,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Meanwhile, a week ago a similar stock theft incident happened in Lalapanzi where six beasts were slaughtered in the middle of the night. Four suspects linked to the incident have since been arrested.
